VJT was asked to supply Amalgamated Construction Ltd, one of the contractors working at the Dawlish Emergency Rail works after the severe flooding that happened in Somerset in the first part of 2014. We sourced and quoted the products as per the engineer drawings the same day and, after receiving the order, we supplied them the next following day before 9am. Products supplied were fixings and construction accessories as requested by the contractor.
Amco issued the following statement to his suppliers on April 11th;
" Following the re-opening of the rail line at Dawlish on Friday 4 April I thought I would just send a brief note of thanks to you all for your support in providing emergency response in what was a most challenging environment. The re-opening was attended by Amco Managing Director Andries Liebenberg and, amongst others, The Prime Minister and The CEO of Network Rail, Mark Carne. Much has been reported by the media and written in the press about this ‘herculean’ effort by everybody involved – the ‘Orange Army’ supported by a robust supply chain. The opening ceremony, I understand, was a truly memorable event and the sense of relief, pride and achievement from all involved I am told was really tangible on the day. This truly was a collaborative effort and our project management team at Dawlish have acknowledged to me that success wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance of the supply chain who prioritised our requirements at very short notice and supported us throughout. It was rewarding for myself and my procurement team to have the performance of the Amco supply chain acknowledged in this way and I would thank you all once again for the part you played in helping to deliver this outstanding and challenging project.
